On Saturday, October 24, Grouse Ceilidh Band will be playing at a Charity  Fundraiser for Johnstone Pipe Band.

Johnstone Pipe Band are from Johnstone in Renfrewshire.  They are the Grade 2 World Champions of 2015.

The Ceilidh will be at:-

with a 7:30 p.m. start

I had a great time on Tuesday playing at The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh with Superhouse.

We were playing at a Wedding Band Showcase arranged by Music for Scotland attended by about 150 people.

Tomorrow evening Ali will be playing at Loch Lomond Golf Club with the Caledonian Cowboy Collective.

The Caledonian Cowboy Collective is a Pipe Band composed of some of the best Pipers and Drummers in Scotland.  It is run by Johnny Gould.

They will be playing at 18:00 at Loch Lomond Golf Club to help a group of American Golfers celebrate their ten year anniversary of their annual trip.

If you want your wedding entertainment to be interactive then you need a Ceilidh Band because it’s a marvelous way for your guests to get involved and to get to know one another.  Above all Ceilidh Bands are fun.

A Ceilidh is not just for those who are used to Ceilidh Dances for our Ceilidh Band Caller will walk you through the steps of each dance so that everyone, even if they feel they lack the ability or confidence, is included.

Grouse Ceilidh Band to play at Scots Fiddle Festival Ceilidh.

Ali and the rest of Grouse Ceilidh Band are excited to have been asked to play at the Scots Fiddle Festival's Ceilidh on Friday, November 20 and, by playing at the Ceilidh, they will be helping to raise money for Barnardo's.

In addition at 12:30pm on Sunday, November 22,  Mairi Thérèse Gilfedder, Grouse Ceilidh Band's Fiddler, will be presenting a talk at the Festival on, "Mediating Between the Past and Present Changing Faces of the West Coast Fiddle Tradition in Scotland".

From South Uist, Mairi Thérèse was surrounded by traditional music from a young age. Her talk is based on stylistic aspects of the West Coast fiddle tradition and the changes that have taken place in recent years, drawing from correspondence with Angus Grant as well as the experience of a younger generation of fiddle players.

I was up early again on Saturday, September 5 to fly from Madrid in Spain to Lisbon in Portugal for I was to be the Wedding Bagpiper for Ingrid and Paolo who were getting married in Sao Roque Church in Lisbon with the reception at The Oitavos Hotel in Cascais.

My fist duty as Ingrid and Paolo's Wedding Piper was to pipe their guests into the church.  This picture was taken by the Wedding Organisers, Something Borrowed, for I ended up not only welcoming the guests to the church but also playing to about 100 people in Lisbon who had heard the sound of The Great Highland Bagpipes and come to appreciate the music.

When it came to welcoming their guests, Ingrid and Paulo knew exactly what they wanted... And Ali flew from Scotland to greet them as they arrived to the church! A    beautiful moment in the middle of Lisbon...

Ingrid and Paolo's wedding was a wonderful occasion and rounded off a quite remarkable weekend.  Ingrid was kind enough to write:-

Very early on Friday, September 4 I caught a flight from Glasgow to London City Airport and then a flight from there to Madrid for I was the Wedding Piper for the wedding of Alphonso and Jo.

The wedding was being held at The Parroquia  de Santa Barbara in Madrid City Centre, a stunning location to get married. 

Alphonso and Jo were getting married at  18:00 and I piped for their guests arriving at the church, after the wedding service and then at their reception.

Ali announces the exciting launch of a new Ceilidh Band to be named Grouse Ceilidh Band.

Fronting the band on the Highland Pipes, Border Pipes, Small Pipes and Whistles Ali is joined by Mairi Therese Gilfedder on Fiddle,  Samantha Pake on Keyboard and Matt Arnott on Drums.

The members of Grouse Ceilidh Band have years of experience playing professionally and Grouse Ceilidh Band are available to play at Weddings, Parties, Corporate Events, Functions and Special Occasions. 

A night of dancing with the Grouse Ceilidh Band includes classic ceilidh dances such as the Gay Gordons and the Dashing White Sergeant in addition to newer, popular dances. Unfamiliar feet needn't worry, as all dancers are guided step-by-step by our expert callers ensuring a fun and inclusive night for everyone!

As a Wedding Piper I go to some beautiful locations and today was no exception.  It was not just beautiful but also different as I was performing my duties as a Wedding Piper at Inchcolm Abbey on Inchcolm Island in The Firth of Forth as you can see by the map below.

Usually I arrive at the Wedding Venue in my car but today the transport to the venue for everyone involved in the wedding was by boat, The Forth Belle, which we all boarded at North Queensferry just by the Forth Railway Bridge.
