I was up early again on Saturday, September 5 to fly from Madrid in Spain to Lisbon in Portugal for I was to be the Wedding Bagpiper for Ingrid and Paolo who were getting married in Sao Roque Church in Lisbon with the reception at The Oitavos Hotel in Cascais.
My fist duty as Ingrid and Paolo's Wedding Piper was to pipe their guests into the church. This picture was taken by the Wedding Organisers, Something Borrowed, for I ended up not only welcoming the guests to the church but also playing to about 100 people in Lisbon who had heard the sound of The Great Highland Bagpipes and come to appreciate the music.

When it came to welcoming their guests, Ingrid and Paulo knew exactly what they wanted... And Ali flew from Scotland to greet them as they arrived to the church! A beautiful moment in the middle of Lisbon...

The Oitavos Hotel in Cascais is a wonderful venue for a wedding, It is about a 40 minute drive away from Lisbon and the celebrations began with Ingrid and Paolo being piped into the hotel, followed by me piping them into dinner. The Wedding Music was a Ceilidh by Licence to Ceilidh, London's Top Ceilidh Band. What a band! Check them out! |
Ingrid and Paolo's wedding was a wonderful occasion and rounded off a quite remarkable weekend. Ingrid was kind enough to write:-
Ali Turner Piper... No problem at all! It was a pleasure!!
